BayDraft is a stage-planning tool for competitive practical shooting. You design in a live 3D view at eye level — the view a shooter actually walks — and place real prop models on a real bay.
A stage is a scene, not a drawing. That is why the same design can be walked from any position, counted for rounds automatically, turned into an overhead diagram, and kept in sync across your devices.
The editor
Two ways to look at a bay
Walk mode puts you at shooter height and lets you move through the stage. This is the one that finds problems: the target you thought was visible from position two, and the one you didn't. Orbit mode pulls back to frame the whole bay while you lay things out.
Save the angles that matter — the start position, each array, the walkthrough path — and jump straight back to them. Saved viewpoints are part of the stage, so they travel with it.
Ground grid and snapping
A reference grid in feet, yards, or meters, with snapping you can turn off when you need to place something by eye. Distances are shown in the unit you prefer; the stage itself is stored in meters, so switching units never moves anything.
Props and placement
Paper targets, steel, walls and ported walls, fault lines, shooting boxes, barrels, and staging props, plus swingers, drop turners, and lowboys in both USPSA and IPSC silhouettes. The catalog is served from the backend rather than baked into the app, so new props appear without waiting for an app update.
We don't advertise a prop count, because the number is easy to inflate and tells you very little. A catalog that lists every target-and-overlay combination as a separate item looks enormous and still can't produce the one you need. BayDraft goes the other way: you compose the target — stack the faces where you want them, apply the hard cover you want — so the combinations are yours to make rather than ours to pre-package.
Placement is drag and drop. Props rotate on the bay surface, sit flat on it, and can be locked so they stop moving by accident.
Bays at any size
Start from a standard bay or enter your own width, depth, and berm height — your home range is rarely a textbook rectangle. Change the bay later and the stage comes with it; if anything would end up outside the new boundary you are told how many props before anything moves, and it is undoable either way.
Runs: walls and fault lines by the chain
Draw a line of vertices and BayDraft tiles the pieces along it. The run stays editable — move a vertex and it re-tiles, swap a segment for a door or a port, or explode it into loose props when you want to hand-place the last few.
Rows and fans
Select a prop and place a whole set from it. A row takes a count, a spacing — either the gap between props or their centre-to-centre distance — and a direction relative to your view. A fan curves the copies around a pivot in front of the prop, usually the shooting position, with every copy turning as it goes so they all keep facing it.
The whole array arrives selected, so you can nudge or re-space it immediately, and one undo removes it.
Working on many props at once
Select several props — shift-click, drag a box around them, pick all paper targets by type, or turn on multi-select mode and tap (no keyboard needed on a tablet). Then move, rotate, duplicate, lock, set required hits, or delete the whole set in one action.
Align and distribute line things up properly. Alignment uses each prop's real footprint, not its centre point, so a wide wall and a narrow target end up with their visible edges flush — and it accounts for rotation, so a wall at an angle is measured by the ground it actually covers. Distribution can equalise the gaps between props or their centres, whichever the layout calls for.
Alignment is relative to the bay, not to where you happen to be standing, so it means the same thing in a walkthrough, an overhead view, and the printed diagram. Locked props act as anchors: pin a wall, align the targets to it.
Undo everything
Every change is undoable, including bay swaps. Bulk actions count as one step, so moving eight targets is one undo, not eight. Swap to a smaller bay and anything that would fall outside is flagged with a count before it is touched — nothing is clamped silently, and undo restores the exact prior positions.
Targets and scoring
A target stand can carry several faces, each positioned independently — stacks, partials, and target/no-shoot overlaps read correctly from every shooting position because they are real geometry, not a symbol on a plan. Per-sport rotation limits apply automatically (IPSC ±45°, USPSA free), and faces mount correctly on angled hardware like swingers and lowboys.
Hard cover can be applied per face. Targets carry their own numbers, and only scored paper and steel are numbered — no-shoots stay unnumbered, as they should.
Round count keeps itself honest. Scored props are counted as you edit, with required hits defaulting to 2 for paper and 1 for steel and adjustable from 0 to 5 per prop. No recounting the diagram the night before the match.
Stage documents
Stages carry the things a match book needs: sport and stage type, stage name, designer, match name, and a written brief covering start position, procedure, scoring, and notes. Tag stages however you organise them and filter your list by tag.
Snap to a clean overhead view and export as JPG or PDF for the stage briefing, the match book, or the setup crew. Exports carry the target faces, hard cover, and prop labels exactly as the editor shows them.
Offline, and on every device
Bays are rarely near a cell tower. You sign in and download the prop catalog once; after that the editor keeps working with no connection at all. Stages save locally and sync when you are back online, including deletions, so the same library shows up on your desktop and on the phone in your pocket at the bay.
Your account
Email and password sign-in, with your address confirmed by a short code so nobody can sign up as you. Forgot your password? Reset it by email — and a reset signs out any other session. You can delete your account and everything in it from inside the app, permanently.
No analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, and nothing sold or shared. What we store and why is set out in the privacy policy.

BayDraft renders real 3D on the device's GPU, which is what makes the eye-level view possible — and is why there is no browser version.
Being built next
BayDraft is in beta and actively developed. Listed here so you know what is not in it yet:
- Steel racks and saved spacings — array presets at regulation spacing, so a rack is one choice rather than a measurement.
- Reusable groups — save an array or a position as a block and drop it into another stage.
- Moving targets — the props are already in the catalog; what is coming is recording their travel and showing the swept path on the diagram.
- Sharing a stage by link — send a squad or a match director a stage they can open without installing anything.
